Fred Thompson
Founder
Blue Jay Drone Services

Prior to founding Blue Jay Drone Services, I've worked in Product Management for over a decade with Alberta Motor Association and ATB, two iconic Alberta brands. As a proud Canadian and Albertan, my work has been rooted in improving the lives of people and businesses in the community through technology.

I became interested in exploring the drone industry further after seeing a spray drone on display at Farm Fair in Edmonton in 2025, and got started with a small drone to learn to fly. As I practiced, my passion grew and I began spending most of my spare time doing industry research to better understand how drones could be leveraged in agriculture, commercial and construction applications.

As we head into the spring, I'm eager to get my Advanced Operations licence and narrow down the use cases that I'll support with my services. In the meantime, if you'd like to get in touch, feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn or send me an email at fred@bluejaydrones.ca
